The “new sanity” is to acknowledge belief in God, yet live as though God doesn’t really matter. “Oh, I believe in God but…” One requirement of being sane is to be rational.  How rational is it to proclaim belief in an all-powerful being, yet not consider His divine opinion?  Today, one is thought insane if they are conforming to God’s will.

But the argument goes “who can fully know what God wants”?  Perhaps the word “fully” sums it up? Because we cannot fully know what God wants, then we cannot fully be held responsible for our disregard.

But the Bible says we are to “seek God in spirit and in truth”, not wait for Him to fully disclose His wishes for our life so that we can first measure the cost.  He wants us to learn to “walk by faith”.

If we are not seeking the Truth (Jesus is the Way, Truth, and the Life…John 14:6) in the Bible, then we have not “fully” sought God’s will.

If we disregard God’s foundational traditions, then we have not “fully” sought God’s will.

If we are not listening for the “still small voice” of the Holy Spirit, then we have not “fully” sought God’s will.

Regarding our relationship with God, it is better to say no and do yes than to say yes and do no.  However, it is best to say yes and do yes, even if the world concludes you are one that needs “professional help”.

Remember Mathew 21:28-31
There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ ” ‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.  “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing.  He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.  “Which of the two did what his father wanted?”  “The first,” they answered.

Do yes, while there is still time!

If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair. --C. S. Lewis
