Fore-Give, God’s grace is His unmerited love for mankind; we are saved by grace through faith.  Grace is forgiveness.  The word “fore” is another way of saying “before”.  Before one can give, or extend grace to another, God must first forgive, and He has!

Consider the difference between fore-giving and post-giving.  When we post-give, we are settling a debt.  When we fore-give, we offer a free gift.

As God’s children, we have been fore-given by God and responsively are to fore-give those that we encounter in our life.  So forgiving is not an action, but rather a transaction of divine grace.

What if this is the key to storing eternal treasure?  What if this is what Paul speaks of as the foundation of Jesus Christ?  What if the turning of the other cheek was not intended as an illustration of tolerance, but an identified opportunity to store eternal treasure?

To fore-give is to extend grace.  God wants us to fore-give as He has offered His grace to us.  He did not come to judge the world (John 12:47), but to offer grace, His unmerited love.

Ironically, the greater the personal injustice, the greater the opportunity one has to forgive and be fruitful for the Lord.

Spiritually, the transaction is rendered in this way:  Satan perpetrates an earthly injustice; Jesus bears that injustice and extends love in its place.  When God’s children are treated unjustly, they give the injustice to Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ exchanges that injustice for His love.  The child of God then extends that same love to the individual Satan used to inflict the injustice.

We are not set free when we forgive those that have caused an injustice toward us, but rather when we fore-give our life’s circumstances to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  Have you surrendered your daily walk to the Lordship of Christ?   How do you respond to personal injustice?  Vengeance is the Lord’s, because He bears the injustice.

Consider the relationship between forgiving and forgotten.  Consistently I have no trouble forgiving what I have forgotten; the trouble is I have a pretty good memory.

God’s grace is a gift; therefore as stated in the previous article, it must be fore-given.  When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we recognize our need to be forgiven for our past sins.  So, while grace is fore-given, in the case of salvation, it is “post-gotten”, or post-received.
When we declare Jesus as Lord, we fore-get the grace that He has fore-given.  In other words, the Lordship of Christ is when we appropriate, in advance, the grace that Christ is ever-offering.  This is “walking by faith”, and faith is how we fore-get His grace.  In Micah 7:19, it reads “You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea”.  To paraphrase, our sins are cast into the “sea of fore-get-fullness”.  Being sanctified does not mean we are perfect, it means we have acquired God’s grace for the rest of our life.

Walking by faith is when we come to the place where we want what God wants for us.
